Tidy Home, Happy Life: Unconventional Tips for Busy People

This blog will be a delightful guide on how to keep your home tidy amidst the chaos of life, kids, or a jam-packed schedule. I understand the struggle of finding socks in the couch and Legos in the kitchen. So I have some unconventional tips to share that will make tidying up a breeze. Get ready to laugh, learn, and reclaim your home with a few good ideas, proven tips, and a sprinkle of humor that will leave you refreshed to conquer the clutter and maintain a tidy home. Let’s go…
1. Embrace the Chaos: Face it, life can be messy, and that's okay! Instead of fighting against the tide of clutter, embrace the chaos with a touch of humor. Remember, a little mess is a sign of a life well-lived. So, go ahead and create a designated "clutter corner" where you can throw all the random bits and bobs that accumulate throughout the day. It's a win-win situation – you'll have a designated spot for quick clean-ups, and it's a great conversation starter for guests! But seriously.. Embracing the chaos doesn't mean letting your home descend into complete disarray. Here's what embracing the chaos can actually mean when maintaining a tidy home:
Reduced Stress: Stressing over every speck of dust or misplaced item can be overwhelming. By embracing the chaos, you release the pressure to have a perfectly spotless home at all times. This shift in mindset allows you to focus on creating a space that brings you joy rather than obsessing over every imperfection.
Realistic Expectations: Life is dynamic, and sometimes unexpected events or busy schedules can disrupt your cleaning routine. Embracing the chaos helps you set realistic expectations for yourself and your home. It acknowledges that there will be moments when things are less than perfect, and again, that's okay. This mindset prevents you from feeling defeated when things don't go according to plan.
Sparks Creativity: When you embrace the chaos, you open yourself up to new possibilities and creative solutions. Instead of seeing messiness as a problem, view it as an opportunity for creativity. Finding unique storage solutions or repurposing items can add a touch of personality to your home while keeping it organized. Think outside the box, remember it’s about finding a joyful balance between tidiness and the realities of life.
2. The Power of a Routine: Establishing a cleaning routine is key to maintaining a tidy home. Start by identifying the tasks that require daily attention, such as making the bed and doing the dishes. Delegate specific days for deep cleaning tasks like vacuuming or organizing closets. By sticking to a routine, you'll avoid overwhelming yourself and ensure that your home remains in order.
ProTip :
Put on your favorite tunes and let the music guide you through your cleaning routine. Dancing with a mop or vacuum cleaner is guaranteed to make you smile, and it's an excellent way to involve your kids or partner in the cleaning process.
3. Unconventional Storage Hacks: Let's think outside the box (or closet) when it comes to storage solutions! Use vintage suitcases as stylish storage for extra blankets or seasonal clothes. Hang a shoe organizer on the back of your bathroom door to store hair accessories and toiletries. Get creative and turn everyday items into unique storage solutions that add personality to your home.
ProTips:
Baskets are your secret weapon against clutter. Strategically place decorative baskets throughout your home to quickly stash away toys, magazines, or any other items that tend to accumulate. Not only do they keep your space tidy, but they also add a touch of charm to your decor.
If you're married or have kids, enlist their help. Create a storage chart that assigns tasks to each family member to find or upgrade storage areas. Turn it into a game with rewards or incentives. Not only will this lighten your load, but it also teaches responsibility and teamwork.
4. Decluttering: Start one room at a time, take the unconventional approach to decluttering by asking yourself, "Does it spark joy?" If an item no longer brings you happiness, bid it farewell and donate or recycle it. Remember, less stuff means less to clean and more room for the things that truly matter.
ProTips for the Brave:
The "Reverse Scavenger Hunt" Challenge yourself to find ten items that don't belong in each room. Set a timer and race against the clock to return them to their rightful places.
The "Toy Jail" Toys seem to have a mind of their own, scattering themselves across your living room like a miniature invasion. Teach them a lesson by creating a "toy jail." When toys are left out, they must spend the night behind bars. Your kids will giggle as they put their unruly toys in their temporary timeout while learning the value of tidying up.
The "Clutter Swap": Connect with a friend or neighbor who shares your passion for decluttering. Swap items that you no longer need but might be of use to them.
5. In conclusion: I won’t say that my house is spotless or always tidy, but before I started decluttering and letting go of things that didn’t serve me any purpose anymore, I felt like I was moving things from one place to the next. Constantly! However I found that when things are put away where they belong as soon as they can be, surfaces are cleared where possible, and things that no longer need be in the house are sent on their merry way, you spend less time tidying up. Thats a wrap for this blog!! Share these tips with your friends, family and loved ones remember, tidying up doesn’t have to be a chore; It can be an opportunity for laughter and bonding with your loved ones. Just spend a couple of days intentionally observing what you’re doing. And then tell me if you can relate. Or not!
